Pros:
Chord progressions are consistently surprising and entrancing, keeping the listener constantly transfixed and creating a wonderful mix of contemplative and desperate atmospheres
Blending of the aggression and ferocity of black metal with the quiet thoughtfulness of post-rock leads to a great diversity of sounds and moods, and is achieved without sacrificing much accessibility
Performances are vicious and raw, with the relentless percussion that often overtakes the animalistic vocals being a standout
Structurally flawless, transitioning between lengthy epics and chilling interludes seamlessly
Cons:
Some heavier passages can overstay their welcome, occasionally becoming a little monotonous
Some lead melodies can be a tad simplistic and forgettable, despite their emotiveness
Best: Dream House
Worst: Please Remember
9/10 It's an experience
